Maria experienced bouts of anxiety since childhood especially when she had to be seen in public or later do a presentation or attend an interview for a job. Most recently, the anxiety was becoming worse often leading to panic attacks at the public places. In the first session Maria learnt some techniques to change her breathing from shallow and fast to deep and slow. With added visualisations she was able to release the tension held in her shoulders and neck followed by a process of untangling overwhelming thoughts and feelings.
In the following sessions a number of early traumatic events were discovered that caused the anxiety and triggers were identified, ie the feeling of being alone and unsupported, the tone of voice other spoke to her, the environment, the expectations etc. Once the causal factors were dealt with Maria started to feel more confident and comfortable within herself and the panic attacks ceased even though the triggers may have been present. The level of anxiety reduced significantly and she was able to move on with her life.
